Last class, i found the whole discussion on complexity very interesting. it was amazing to see how many of us just couldnt give a proper dictionary definition of the word. For example, i heard, after the class was asked to define complexity, the answer “how hard something is.” This definition clicked with me but i also thought that that specific definition is only one use of the word when it also has a multitude of other definitions. a definition that i came up with is how many layers of detail an object has. Another definition that can be found is one i found on wikipedia: “In general usage, complexity often tends to be used to characterize something with many parts in intricate arrangement.” However as all three definitions are correct, it only shows that the definition of complex itself is complex.

In this report about finite elemental analysis, many interesting points were brought up. For example, aerospace companies have been able to cut many costs of designing by using finite elemental analysis. This is so because of the user-friendly FEA software has allowed for engineers to predict what kind of results would occur without actually having to physically test the materials. New affordable FEA software even allows smaller companies to “cut costs by numerically simulating manufacturing processes.” With all of this software designers can cut costs by not actually having to buy materials as well as being able to get rid of flaws of a design early on before money starts pouring in for the actual development of a design.

Last class i found the discussion on manual cars pretty interesting. it was fun to learn how the engine works in automatic transmission and in manual transmission. Before, i knew how to use clutch and drive a manual car, but now i know the differences between an automatic and a manual transmission. It was interesting to learn about why an automatic car doesn’t get as much mileage as a manual car does, which is due to the fact that an automatic car is more inclined to shift up at higher RPM than real human drivers are. For example, an automatic car will shift up once it has hit 6000 rpm, but a human driver, like me, would be more inclined to shift up more closer to around 4000 rpm, thus saving gas.

Part c)

Yesterday, i learned about the three different kinds of learning styles: auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. Although i am not sure as to what kind of learner i am, i am confident that knowing that one type of learning is better suited to me than the others will help me in my future. I plan on trying to figure out what kind of learner i am, so that i may better improve my learning methods and styles. Once i have decided to which kind of learner i am, i should definitely be able to use that certain knowledge in my future to help serve me to learn any difficult concepts. For example, should i grow up to be a medical doctor, and i am having a problem learning a concept, i would be able to employ the knowledge that i have gained (the type of learner i am) to try a unique learning approach, designed for me, to help me understand that concept.

my interests are Tennis, swim, basketball, bboy (breakdancing), snowboarding, surfing, and other stuff… and my favorite movies are V for Vendetta, Lion King, and Transformers. And i aspire to be something in medicine or business.
